BACKGROUND
San Fernando was founded in 1948 by Mr. Julio Soichi Ikeda
Tanimoto and it was launched as a ducks breeding family enterprise.
With the
support of his children, he begins in 1963 the breeding of
broiling chickens, in 1971 the breeding of turkeys, a year
later he opens his first retail store named San Fernando ,
becoming since 1994 the Multimarkets San Fernando.
With the
purpose of controlling the whole productive process and in
order to guarantee the quality of its products, San Fernando
decides to integrate vertically its business, beginning with
the breeding of poultry for reproductive purposes which allow
them the auto supply of baby chickens and in 1977 the company
starts operating its first plant of balanced food.

With the
experience and the good results obtained, San Fernando decides
to begin two new businesses: marketing eggs in 1979 and pigs
breeding in 1986.
During
more than half a century San Fernando has proved an invaluable
constancy and creativity to adapt to new technologies as well
as requirements of modern enterprises in order to exceed the
expectations of an always demanding client.
At present
the San Fernando group retails its products all over the country
counting with:
7 incubation
plants, 2 plants of balanced food, 104 chicken farms, 8 turkey
farms, 5 pig farms, 12 egg farms, 2 poultry slaughter plants
and 1 plant for the processing of meat products.
The distribution of these products is made with a large fleet
of refrigerated trucks.
Thanks
to its internationally recognized quality standards, the San
Fernando products have managed to enter in demanding markets
such as Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador,
Bolivia and El Salvador.
